Granudan Sealer GP (Solvent based)

Granudan Sealer GP overcomes micro-porosity and restores a uniform surface when used on new or cleaned molds prior to the use of one of our Zyvax Flex-Z products. Particularly globally recognized and effective sealer for protecting molds and tools. Forms a mechanical protection of the mold surface against styrene attack and eliminates binding to the mold by surface porosity.

Granudan Sealer GP works as a primer for our Zyvax Flex-Z products and thus significantly extends the strength and life of the mold.

This product is easy to use and contains no (PFAS) fluorine-containing substances and is therefore not harmful to the environment or in the production.

Curing time: 30 min in room temperatures at minimum 20°C. The number of layers depends on the surface quality of the mold. (3 layers on metal and 4 layers on polyester. gelcoat and epoxy)

Granudan Sealer GP

Product information:

Granudan Sealer GP is a clear, flexible film that forms a protective shield on the mold surface. In addition, Sealer GP provides the necessary base to extend the life of the slip coating and will allow optimal performance from the coating.

  • Overcomes microporosity in mold surfaces.
  • Eliminates break-down time for new molds and/or tools.
  • Restores a uniform surface when used in a form of repair or patch.
  • Protects the surface of the mold against styrene emission and wear and therefore extends the lifetime of the mold.

Instructions:

  1. Soak a clean, soft, lint- and lint-free cotton cloth with Sealer GP.
  2. Apply the product with a light hand without rubbing hard, on an area corresponding to 50 x 50 cm.
  3. While the surface is still wet, wipe off all Granudan Sealer GP with a new clean cloth until the surface is dry. Continue in this manner until the entire mold is processed.
  4. Let the surface harden for min. 15 minutes before a new layer is applied and wiped off.
  5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 as many times as the shape type requires.
  6. IMPORTANT: After the last layer, wait min. 30 minutes before the mold is ready to apply the selected “Zyvax Flex-Z 1.0 – 6.0 products”.

Note:
Before application, the mold must be thoroughly cleaned to ensure correct bonding from our sealers to mold surface. We recommend using our cleaner: “Granudan Mold Cleaner“, “Granudan WaterClean” or “Granudan GR-08“.

For abrasive cleaning (removal of resin build-up) use our “Smirdex” abrasives for tough epoxy surfaces, and our polishing pastes from “Farécla” for high gloss finishing.

For worn out mold surfaces or surfaces with large porosity, we recommend using our primer “MPP C2698W” before applying sealer and release agent.

For a water-based alternative we recommend Granudan Sealer BN201.
